BRAINS BEHIND THE BIZ: Madeleine, Intern
Introduce Yourself: Hi! My name is Madeleine, and I’m a junior at Princeton studying computer science and entrepreneurship. I’m from California, and in my free time I love being outside, running, and martial arts. I’ve enjoyed being in New York for the summer, and interning at GlossGenius has been absolutely amazing!
Why GlossGenius? I applied as part of the Princeton Startup Immersion Program after having really fantastic experiences in the entrepreneurship classes at Princeton. One of my favorite classes was a class on creativity, and the GlossGenius app stood out to me from the others because it was one of the only ones that truly emphasized thinking outside of the box-- and it was really fun to fill out! I took that as a sign that the company might be a good fit. I was also so incredibly inspired by Danielle’s drive and passion for her work. It’s really awesome to be working at a company with such amazing people!
GlossGenius Role: As a business development intern, I’ve gained exposure across many varied aspects of running a business. Some of the projects I’ve enjoyed being involved in most have been related to project management, like brainstorming new features for the app. It’s so rewarding to be able to see all of the intensive thought, reason and creativity reflected in the implementation of the product, especially when we know it’s helping our incredibly talented customers!
Fave GlossGenius Feature: It’s had to pick just one thing! If I had to choose though, I’d say all of the smart analytics and reporting features. I like these because I see how easy it makes it for a professional to understand more about their business while doing no number crunching at all:)
Fave Beauty Trend: I’ve seen a ton of dyed hair this summer, across a really interesting palette! I think the light blue/grey trend in hair is sooo pretty, not sure if I could pull it off though :)
Best Advice I’ve Gotten At GlossGenius: We’ve gotten a TON of good advice, but one that stands out is to make the most of your time-- whether it’s in work or trying a fun new restaurant, it’s important to put your all into anything you do.
